                           ABOUT MAC

     MAC Alhuda Weekend School Student

MAC recognizes the positive and needed role faith-based groups serve and welcomes opportunities to build alliances with and across religious, ethnic, racial, and different age groups to give back, innovate and strengthen our neighbourhoods nationwide. As a Canadian Muslim faith-based organization following a traditional moderate interpretation of Islam, MAC’s work is built around the ethical integrity of Islam; balancing faith with modernity, the material with the spiritual and love for the Creator and duty to His Creation.
FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmtu Allah (Peace be with you)

Dear Community Members,

As we draw to the end of the year, I will like to highlight a few developments coming up in MAC’s future work.
Early November presented MAC’s future plans and mandate with stakeholders from Hope & Prayer in the 6ix event including Daniele Zanotti President and CEO of United Way of Greater Toronto, Board of Directors and key members from United Way, Toronto City Hall representatives, and our esteemed community partners from Islamic Relief, ISNA Canada, Human Concern International, Muslim Welfare Center who have helped us fundraise $100,000 alhamdulillah.

I was pleased to share MAC’s strategic steps for the next five years that position us as one of the top 20 non-profit leading organizations in Canada. InshAllah, MAC will become an effective community partner at the grassroots because community building is at the heart of what we do. These meetings are vital in communicating the earnest hard work MACs staff and volunteers dedicate year-round. I am repeatedly inspired by partners I meet, they are ready to work with the Muslim community and build coalitions that bring us together and create a flourishing nation.

I will also like to join United Nations Association In Canada and congratulate Walid Soliman on being recognized as the Association’s 2019 Global Citizen Laureate. Thank you for your compassionate commitment and championing humanitarian causes, your work creates a better future for us all.

As always, please let us know what you think. There is a survey at the bottom of this newsletter where you can share and express your feedback; we are always open to suggestions and new ideas.

May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts and bless you all,

Sharaf Sharafeldin, Executive Director
Muslim Association of Canada
